Itwasjustanotherordinarydaywhentheunexpectedhappened.ThesmalltownofWillamette,Colorado,whereIwaslivingatthetime,hadsuddenlybeenoverrunbyzombies.Theoutbreakwascausedbyamysteriousvirusthatturnedtheinhabitantsofthetownintoflesh-eatingmonsters.Themilitaryhadimmediatelyquarantinedthearea,trappingusinsidewiththeundead.Ihadtorelyonmysurvivalinstinctsandquickthinkingtostayaliveamidstthechaos.ThiswasmyexperiencewithDeadRising.
SurvivalTacticstoStayAlive
Assoonastheoutbreakhappened,IknewIhadtoactfast.Myfirstprioritywastofindweaponsanddefendmyselfagainstthezombies.IscavengedforanythingIcoulduseasaweapon,frombaseballbatstogardenshears.ThemallinWillamettebecamemysanctuary.IthadeverythingIneeded,fromfoodtoclothingandweapons.Ihadtonavigatethroughthemall'scorridorswhilefightingofftheundead.Ilearnedtobestrategicinmymovements,usingobstaclestomyadvantage.ImadesuretoavoidopenspaceswhereIcouldeasilybeoverrun.Itwasagameofcatandmouse,andIhadtobethecat.Ialsohadtobemindfulofmyresources.IhadtorationmysuppliestoensurethatIcouldsurviveforaslongaspossible.Itwasabattleofwitsandstamina,andIhadtobepreparedforanything.
TheHumanCostofSurvival
Theoutbreakhadexactedaheavytollonthetown'sinhabitants.Manyofthemhadbecomeinfected,andsomehaddiedtryingtodefendthemselves.Ihadseenfirsthandhowquicklytheviruscouldspread.Ihadencounteredsurvivorswhowereonthebrinkoflosinghope.Theyhadlosteverything,theirfamilies,theirhomes,andtheirwayoflife.Ihadtobethelightinthedarkness,abeaconofhopeamidstthedespair.Ihadtoremindthemthatwewerestillalive,andwehadtofighttostaythatway.Itwasaharshreality,butIhadtofaceithead-on.Ihadtocometotermswiththefactthatsomeofusmaynotmakeitoutalive.

DeadRisinghadtaughtmemanythings.Ithadtaughtmetoberesourceful,strategic,andresilient.Ithadalsoshownmethefragilityoflifeandhowquicklythingscanchange.Theoutbreakhadbeenawake-upcallforme.Ithadmademeappreciatelifemore,andIhadlearnedtonevertakeanythingforgranted.Survivingtheundeadwasatestofmycharacterandstrength.Throughmyexperience,Ihadlearnedthateveninthefaceofadversity,thereisalwayshope.Itmaybedifficult,butwemustnevergiveup.Wemustkeepfighting,keepsurviving,andkeepliving.
