Article: Grade 8 English Listening Exercises
Listening Exercise 1: Describing Daily Routines
Today in our English class, we had a listening exercise where we had to listen to a conversation and answer questions about daily routines. The conversation was between two friends, Sarah and Michael. They were talking about their daily routines and discussing their activities.
The first question was about Sarah's morning routine. She mentioned that she usually wakes up at 6:30 am and takes a shower. Then, she has breakfast at around 7 am. Michael, on the other hand, wakes up slightly later at 7 am and rushes to get ready. He quickly brushes his teeth, washes his face, and then has a quick breakfast at 7:30 am before leaving for school.
The next question was about what they do after school. Sarah said that she usually goes to her piano lessons twice a week after school. On the other days, she goes to the library to study or meets up with her friends. Michael mentioned that he plays soccer after school every day with his friends. He loves playing sports and says it helps him relax after a tiring day of classes.
Listening Exercise 2: Discussing Hobbies
During our second listening exercise, we had to listen to a dialogue between two classmates, Lisa and John, discussing their hobbies. The dialogue was quite interesting and gave us insights into their personal interests outside of school.
Lisa mentioned that she enjoys reading books in her free time. She likes reading various genres, such as mystery, fantasy, and adventure. She also mentioned that she likes to write short stories sometimes. John, on the other hand, said that he is a huge basketball fan. He loves playing basketball and often plays with his friends at the local basketball court. He dreams of becoming a professional basketball player one day.
The next question was about whether they have any shared hobbies. Lisa mentioned that they both enjoy watching movies together. They often go to the cinema on weekends and watch the latest releases. John added that they also like going hiking with their families during holidays. They enjoy being in nature and exploring new places together.
Listening Exercise 3: Planning a School Trip
For the third exercise, we had to listen to a conversation between a teacher, Mr. Williams, and a group of students planning a school trip. The students were discussing the destination and the activities they wanted to do during the trip.
One student suggested visiting a historical city nearby. They mentioned that the city has many famous landmarks and museums. Another student proposed going to a theme park instead. They mentioned that it would be more fun and exciting, and everyone would enjoy the thrilling rides and attractions.
After much discussion, they finally decided to visit the historical city. They thought it would be a great opportunity to learn about the country's history and culture. They also planned to visit a famous museum in the city to experience its rich heritage.
In conclusion, our English listening exercises were both informative and entertaining. We got to learn about daily routines, hobbies, and even took part in planning a school trip. These exercises helped us improve our listening skills while expanding our English vocabulary. It was a great way to make our English lessons more interactive and enjoyable!
